Blog 13

So presentation day was here...and I was as nervous as I could be but I feel like I didn't show it. I told my group I didn't want to go first or last. I didn't mind being in the middle, but I still don't like being one of the last groups to present because that's when the teacher starts to grade harder and expects you to be better than the group before yours. I started to her sort of shakey and felt like I wasn't going to have control of my hands during the presentation because I hate looking nervous when I present. I put my all into that presentation and I was hoping to not mess it up by saying the wrong thing when I was presenting. I honestly felt like I myself did a crappy job presenting with the sound of my voice & lack of eye contact. But I'm hoping that didn't pull us behind. But putting all of my groups & my effort together I feel like we did a pretty good job with our presentation.

This week my group and I have just been preparing for the presentation and been setting it all up. And we've been preparing who's going to do what. I guess we're not going to be able to give the cancer patients the bracelets only because no one has got back to us at all and we keep calling and calling but they keep saying that they'll get back to us but they never do get back to us. So I guess we will have to leave the feedback part out because we have no feedback from the kids and the workers there. I had to take a separate photo so that way it could go in with the picture of the whole group but Alex did a bad photo shop job but I' m going to fix that because I don't want the picture like that I want it to look nice and proper for the presentation.

This week we are going to start preparing for our presentation. We still don't know what we're going to do with the bracelets because they haven't told us if they're safe for the kids or not. But whether or not they take the bracelets then we're still going to do the presentation obviously. But we're going to keep calling to see if they can. I think we're going to bring the bracelets for the presentation that way we can show the class the progress we made with the bracelets and how they came out. We made 30 bracelets each and I don't think we're going to bring all of them because obviously there too many to bring just for show and tell. I was behind on the blog because I didn't have time to finish in class last week and then I forgot to finish it later that day and pushed it aside until now.

This week we were just discussing when we could go to the hospital to ask them when is a good day to distribute the bracelets. Alex called three times this week but I'm not sure if anybody answered him and talked to him about the day we could go meet the kids and give them the bracelets. Today they're gonna go to Choc and ask personally when they could give the bracelets to the kids but I can't go today because I have to go somewhere with my mom and if I don't go with her she'll be mad. But next time they go I should be able to go on a day that I don't have to accompany my mom somewhere. Maybe like a Monday or Saturday. They were planning to bus it to the hospital today or tomorrow after school but I'm not sure what the final decision on that was.

Since I talked to Alex and Vanessa they all agreed to let me bee in their group so now I'm with them for the 20% project. Yesterday Alex gave me the supplies that I need to make the bracelets for the kids with cancer. I'm also gonna help him with the money that he used to buy me the supplies for the bracelets. But today when I get home I'm going to practice making them that way I can actually start asap on making the bracelets for the kids. They want me to make the fishtail bracelets so I'm going to ask Vanessa if she can help show me how to make the fishtail bracelets because they seem pretty difficult to make but once I learn I'll be sure to have many done by next week, that is if I learn quickly. I also have several colors to chose from to make the bracelets and the hook to use for the fishtail bracelets.

I stopped doing my blogs and 20%  project because I got lazy to talk and procrastinated with my work but a while after that I had told my last group I wasn't going to be able to go to every volunteer work there was and basically I had no group after that. Then I joined Maritza's group but she dropped out of school after spring break and I had no group again. So I stopped trying with my project again since I had nothing to do or no group.I talked to Vanessa and Alex if I can join their group and help them make the bracelets for the kids. So now I have joined Alex's group and we're going to make bracelets for kids with cancer and take them to the kids. So from this day forward I'm going to keep up with my blogs and project since I now I have a group once again.

I switched to Maritza's group because I wasn't going to be able to keep up with my old group so now I'm with Maritza & I think I'm going to be able to keep up with her instead. Anyways pictures aren't really viewed how they used to be viewed by the detail and not the actual picture. Before people actually look at the picture they judge the picture by the angle or the effect instead of the picture. For example the picture above people will automatically say "oh that's a cool picture!" only because the city and the sunset behind it makes the picture stand out. Instead of thinking how long they waited until the right moment to take the picture. Probably without the sunset & building lights people will still think that it's a cool picture  but not as much as it is when the sunset is there & building lights.

Week 3

Third week we weren't able to do much because I wasn't in class. But what we were going to do was call other places that offer volunteering. We searched on google volunteer opportunities and found a good amount of volunteer opportunities for the 20% project. This Wednesday we are going to call the places we found and see if any of them are still accepting any volunteers. There was one for the American Red Cross for December & we are gonna see if that one is still available for volunteers. We are hoping to find something before December where we can volunteer so we can record what the project is about. But we shouldn't worry because there are more places we have that have that accept volunteers. We will call all of them on Wednesday to see which one we can volunteer at.

Week 2

This week my group & I called the foster care to see if we could volunteer there. Unfortunately they didn't answer us so we had to leave a message telling them where we are from & if we can volunteer with the kids. They haven't called us back yet to tell us if we can or can't volunteer. If we aren't able to volunteer, then we will keep looking for other foster homes we can volunteer at. Our other choice for our project still has to do with volunteering, but we are just going to look for other volunteer opportunities where we can help out others. With that we will record small bits and pieces of every place we volunteer at. We will put it all together, talk and show where we've been volunteering & what we've been doing. Most of all we will show how we're making a difference in someone else's life.

My 20% Project

At the moment we haven't done much for our 20% project. But we are planning on going to visit an orphanage and read books to them or just basically spend time with them & give them company. We are planning to go every Wednesday to the orphanage. Before we actually go visit the kids we are going to call a couple of orphanages to see if they are available for visitors. We are going to read to the kids and bring them toys to play with.  We are probably going to go for about a month or two. We are going to record our progress, take pictures, and make a video of what we did throughout the time we went to go visit the kids. This will make a change in the kids lives because if they don't feel loved we will try to make them feel like they matter & that's why we plan on going for about a month or two maybe even longer so they can be accompanied.
